Eleven months after the father of sixteen-year-old Blaire Adams vanished without a trace, he's found wandering outside The Scripps Research Institute vomiting blood and speaking gibberish, his sole possession a worn leather diary filled with an unrecognizable language. He has a message for her.

As he dies in her arms, he claims he never vanished. She vanished.

In a nearby military quarantine zone, scientists are being called in from around the world to sequence a previously unknown strain of DNA. Scientists…and soldiers.

When her father’s autopsy reveals a rare chromosomal disorder—a disorder, it turns out, she inherited—Blaire begins to suspect her father’s last words weren’t induced by amnesia. Like her dad, she has an additional set of instructions in her genes—instructions for what, doctors can’t say. Only one thing is certain: it’s what killed him…and it will kill her too.

But now she’s haunted by prophetic nightmares of the Yellowjacket—a young murderer, eyes the black of charcoal, who lures his victims to suicide without ever paying them a visit. The only clue she has to his handiwork is a lingering feeling of déjà vu. That, and the nagging suspicion that all she knows is a mirage. She is certain of two things—though it may mean confiding in the wrong side of good and evil, he has the answers she needs.
And he is recruiting her. (via Goodreads)

I am freaking confused. Yes, I am. Or maybe just a little bit. I hate to say this. But as much as I love the plot and Damian, I am freaking disappointed at the way it ended. In all seriousness. Fine, kinda disappointed. But as the same time, I'm still good with it. I'll state my reasons later.

Broken Symmetry's plot was utterly interesting and unique. From the first page, the story screamed mystery. All throughout the novel, it was intense for me. I was really engrossed into the story because it was really gripping. The idea of Crossing Over was really addicting. Yes, it totally was. Imagine all the things you can freely do because no one's going to stop you since it's not your real world. But with that freedom comes that fear of being lost in that world forever. I have to say that I enjoyed the Crossing Over stuff. Though with all the terms, it was also confusing. I felt like I got lost myself!

I never connected to Blaire. But I really felt for her because hello, she was an emancipated adult. Her father disappeared without a trace and reappeared without enough details. So how cannot she be confused right? Of course she'll want answers. But the things she did were out of control. At least, she ended up with Damian and the others! Somehow, I actually felt how she grew as a character. She was a little hostile and snob at first. But in the end, she came around.

Damian. He was swoony. Totally. Absolutely. Even at the first part wherein he was a jerk to Blaire, I knew he had reasons. And damn those reasons were so worth it. I cannot say more of him. Just. Swoony.

The twist at the end was really great. I actually felt that it'll end like that because I got the hint from the blurb and from the other characters as well. Still, it was confusing. A lot of questions were unanswered. That's the reason I was kinda disappointed with the ending. It didn't fully explain everything. I thought the ending will make everything clear. But no. I want to put those questions here but they'll be spoilers in a way. So find it out yourself!

My second reason was the blurb. It gave me a feeling that somehow this was a Dystopia novel! Maybe that was my fault. But really, the blurb wasn't really a synopsis of the whole book. It sort of turned into another direction! Maybe some of you might be surprised and be impressed but not me. Yet I enjoyed it!

Even if there were unanswered questions, I'm still giving this a 4 since I really enjoyed it.  And because of Damian too. C'mon, he's a total good catch. I know. With all my complain, I'm giving it a 4!

Broken Symmetry will feed you mystery. It's gripping, interesting, and real addicting. Be ready to swoon for Damian. But also be ready for that sort-of shocking ending and for unanswered questions!
