In this breathtaking debut that reads like Gossip Girl crossed with Twin Peaks, a Queen Bee at a blue-blooded New England prep school stumbles into a murder mystery.

Anne Dowling practically runs her exclusive academy on New York’s Upper East Side—that is, until she accidentally burns part of it down and gets sent to a prestigious boarding school outside of Boston. Determined to make it back to New York, Anne couldn't care less about making friends at the preppy Wheatley School. That is, until her roommate Isabella’s body is found in the woods behind the school.

When everyone else is oddly silent, Anne becomes determined to uncover the truth no matter how many rules she has to break to do it. With the help of Isabella’s twin brother Anthony, and a cute classmate named Brent, Anne discovers that Isabella wasn’t quite the innocent nerdy girl she pretended to be. But someone will do anything to stop Anne’s snooping in this fast-paced, unputdownable read—even if it means framing her for Isabella’s murder. (via Goodreads)

That was such a surprise. I never really thought that the murderer was that character. Sure, that person was in my list. But the events that lead to it all was really a surprise for me! Haha. Never saw that coming.

Prep School Confidential is a typical rich kids book wherein rich kids get away with everything. It is so cliche in a way but the mystery here kept me so entertained. I never got bored. It was really entertaining and fascinating to read about Anne's clever adventures to know who killed Isabella. She did a lot of stealing and breaking in. For a rich kid, she sure can have her ways. Just like when she accidentally burned down part of her school, instead of being punished, she was transferred to a boarding school.

At first, you'll really see how Anne fit in to that rich kids crowd. She was that rich kid you'll hate because she was a bit snotty in a way. It was annoying actually but when she got to the boarding school, she changed. A lot. Or she didn't. I don't really know since I didn't know much of her before that fire incident. But I totally saw how she really wasn't that snotty. She was actually nice in more ways than another. I just find it weird that Anne actually sort-of forgot her life back in New York when Isabella died. Maybe it was because she was really that much preoccupied to know who the murderer was. I never read about her having meltdowns. And I guess that's really an edge because the female main character was a strong one. She was actually a badass girl. I don't know if she was just really stupid to do such things but she still did. Just to know who killed Isabella. To think that they were just friends for a very short time.

The journey that Anne had to go through just to know who killed Isabella was a fun one. It wasn't that much of a suspense but it was thrilling because she was in high school and doing such stuff can get her into serious trouble! And really, who are we kidding? She was trying to dig up her own grave by being upfront with the powerful people in her school. And she was just a new student. For that, I really think it was really brave of her to actually stand for the truth. Even if at some point, I think she was being really naive when it comes to the murderer's identity. It was hard for her to find out who since she didn't know the background of the people around her. She really had to snoop in.

Oh, Anne even had romance in here. Imagine? She was busy trying to catch a murderer and she still had guys around her? Lucky girl! Seriously though, I don't know who to pin for. This isn't a romance and thank God the story wasn't flipped up and down and still focused to the mystery part.

I just hate how this powerful stuff in here is so true in our world. No matter where the hell you go, as long as you have that money, success, fame and connections, you'll never go wrong in your life. Well, karma's a bitch. So I guess they'll just have to wait for payback time. Also, I think every little thing we do actually has an effect to other things. Like a domino! So Isabella's death didn't actually just happened because of one reason. A lot of factors were highly involved.

Prep School Confidential is a thrilling YA mystery read. It'll keep you entertain all throughout. You'll keep on guessing who the real murderer was every time one clue goes out. Surprises are on your way! Oh, don't think that Anne is going to stop already just because Isabella's murderer had been caught. There's much more going on behind that school's powerful system.

I don't know how anyone can use the terms good class and ton of work in the same sentences, so I stay quiet.

I'm not crying, which makes me think there's something wrong with me. I should be crying. My roommate died this morning.

Don't people realize that when they say "It's nothing," they're pretty much guaranteeing that it's something?

"Sometimes dealing with things on your own is... unhealthy. It comes with the temptation to become involved in things it's not in your best interest to become involved in."

Being brave isn't the same as not being scared, though. It means going through with something even if totally terrifies you.

Oh, love your review! Glad this one was suitably mysterious and twisty! My favourite quote from the book out of your selection is actually the first one - it made me like Anne instantly!
